BMW confirms X4 build

BMW will launch the much-rumoured new coupe-like SUV badged as X4F26to fill the gap between its X3 and X6 models.BMW chief executive officer Norbert Reithofer was quoted as saying in the magazineYes, we will position the X4 above the X3 the X4 will have similar styling to the X6 coupe-styled crossover and is likely to compete against Porsche's forthcoming new small SUV, the Cajun.No details of the X4 model have been revealedspeculates that the new model will use the same platform as the X3 and be 4,650mm (183 inches) long, the same length as the X3, and 207mm (8.14 inches) shorter than the X5. It is also expected to feature a similar design layout to the X6, with the 'bullish' front end and sloping coupe lines of the bigger X6.The X4 is expected to come with the same powertrain options available in the X3, including both four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. All models are also expected to feature BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system.
