Victoria Beckham will produce her own special edition Range Rover. The former Spice Girl works for the brand as a design consultant for its newest, and smallest model, the Evoque and is already working to make her own designer model.
Speaking at the launch of the new car in Liverpool overnight, Range Rover director Phil Popham confirmed a limited edition Beckham-styled Evoque is on the way.
He revealed the long-rumoured special edition as he explained exactly what her consultant role for the car company involves. Beckham played a major role in the launch of the car as the company, which is famous for big, rugged off-roaders, pitches the Evoque at style-conscious city dwellers.
"There's two things she's doing [for Range Rover
We will work on editions that will have a Victoria Beckham edge to it.
"But just as importantly, she's giving her view and experience sharing that with our designers generally in terms of not just the look, but the materials, the fabrics, what we think is premium verses what she thinks in premium as a consumer of luxury goods.
"She's also a Range Rover owner as well. Her and David Beckham have owned a number of Range Rovers and they have personally commissioned the interiors of their cars as well. So they like the brand, they're into the brand already.
"They like cars. They live the premium life, they're got a good eye for premium products and we're picking her brains in that respect."
Popham dismissed suggestions that she was just a marketing gimmick and confirmed she is regularly involved in meetings with the company's designers to ensure the Evoque maintained the company's luxury reputation despite being a much smaller car.
"She's come in as a person that is a leader in terms of fashion at the moment, fashion design
We did a lot of research with people in the industry before we came to an agreement to work with us, in terms of her future in that industry. All of the critical appraisal of her is that she is one for the future in terms of being a leading designer. All of her current designs have been sold out before they're in the shops.
But importantly she is also a person that lives the premium life. She understands premium in every aspect of her life. Everything she buys is premium, whether that be clothes, apparel, house or the watch that she wears, which is exquisite, she lives the premium life.
"The time she's spent as a consultant with our designers has been quite an eye opener because a lot of our designers don't live the premium life in the way that Victoria Beckham does. She's incredibly affluent, but an incredibly normal person too. So she's bringing a different insight into everything that we do."
Popham refused to reveal any details about the car or when it would be launched but did rule out one possible name.
