BMW presented emergency vehicles at the 2011 RETTmobil event in Germany

BMW closely works together with people and institutions in the domain in order to develop efficient and high end emergency vehicles. The first emergency vehicle that had been revealed at RETTmobil was a specially prepared BMW 5 Series Touring (F11) which received the appropriate features such as a set of flashing lights, special graphics at the exterior and also new technology inside.

More exactly, BMW equipped the 5 Series Touring with a special signal system which now is part of the iDrive control system. Therefore, the warning system can be now easily accessed by using iDrive’s controller, the same system from where you can access the radio, navigation system or other standard settings for a BMW model

Besides the special 5 Series, BMW unveiled a paramedic vehicle based on the current 3 Series Touring (E91) while two powerful SUVs in range, the current X3 and X6, models featuring largely the same equipment package, were available in BMW’s line-up.

Even the Touring versions of 3 Series and 5 Series seem to be the perfect emergency vehicle as they provide both power and passenger space, the Germans from BMW thought that also transforming two SUVs into intervention vehicles would be good mainly considering that a large vehicle like the X6 scores at the imposing chapter due to its bigger dimensions.
