The German people from Sport Auto decided to test the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe alongside few other models somewhere in Germany, at the Hockenheim track to be more exactly. The journalists tested a bunch of new vehicles from three big German manufacturers: BMW, Audi and Porsche.
They also did a comparison between the BMW E92 M3 ZCP DCT and the smallest M model in the range, of course, the new 1 Series M Coupe. I don’t know if you will believe but the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe actually managed to get a better time on the Hockenheim circuit.
It managed to get a lap time of 1:14.1 being just 0.1 second faster than the BMW E92 M3 ZCP DCT. It’s true that there is not a very big gap between the Bavarian models but let’s face it, the smaller proved to be the better this time, most probably due to its lower total mass
The fastest model tested by Sport Auto journalists at Hockenheim proved to be Porsche Cayman R PDK which managed to obtain a time of 1:12.4 followed by BMW’s E46 M3 CSL with 1:13.5.
