The Fayette County coroner's office has identified the second man killed in a fiery car crash this weekend.
Basim M. Maali, 26, was the passenger in a Mercedes-Benz S500 that sped away from an attempted stop by a campus police officer at the University of Kentucky, the release
Taher Yousef Kadah, the driver, was thrown from the vehicle when it crashed at East High Street and Oldham Avenue, near the Woodland Park tennis courts. Maali was still inside the car when it burst into flames.Both men died from blunt force trauma, the coroner's officePolice said drugs were a suspected factor in the crash.According to Fayette District Court records, Kadah, 24, had been criminally charged or stopped for traffic violations more than 40 times since 2005. His offenses included multiple instances of driving without a license, driving under the influence, drug trafficking and possession of marijuana.
Funeral arrangements for both men are being handled by Care Cremation and Funeral Service in Lexington.
