Three young men are lucky to be alive after being run down early Sunday in Mississauga by a hit-and-run driver whose fancy abandoned car was later found by police.
A suspect was arrested later in the day and faces four serious charges, Peel Regional Police
Investigators said the three victims, all 23, suffered scrapes and bruises.
But one was hit so hard in the parking lot of a late-night drinking establishment — at Erin Mills Parkway and Battleford Rd. — that his body partially caved in the car’s windshield.
Two victims were released from hospital after treatment, while the third remained for observation, Const. George Tudos
No motive for what could have been a triple fatality was available, but Tudos said a silver-coloured Audi 86 struck all three following “some sort of a disturbance” at the bar. The driver fled around 2:38 a.m.
The business which has changed hands several times is best known in the area as the Krazy Cactus Restaurant & Sports Bar.
Peel officers found the Audi abandoned on the shoulder of Hwy. 401, near Mavis Rd. Its licence plate was held to the bumper with one screw.
Tudos said the car was not reported stolen.
