Guns and money tossed from stolen car

Highway Patrol has two people in custody following a police pursuit that closed eastbound Interstate 80 at Elkhorn Boulevard for a time Tuesday afternoon.
The chase began in Elk Grove
Grove police Officer Chris Trim, when a patrol officer ran the license plate of a 2003 Saturn at Highway 99 and Elk Grove Boulevard and learned the car was stolen.
The officer attempted a traffic stop on the Saturn but the driver took off, Trim said.
Thetook over the pursuit on the highway. Officers reported seeing a shotgun, handgun and money thrown from the car,Officers deployed a pit (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver on the car, forcing it to stop. The driver and a passenger were taken into custody.officers recovered the shotgun at Fruitridge Road and Highway 99. They closed the eastbound direction of I-80 at Elkhorn to look for the other items. The freeway was reopened.
