The body of a 55-year-old Maple Shade woman was recovered Monday from a car submerged in a Gloucester County creek shortly before she was reported missing, according to authorities.
Connie Oman Burns of Frederick Avenue was reported missing by her two sisters about 2 p.m. Monday, a day after she said she was on her way to a family party but never arrived, according to Bernie Weisenfeld, a spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
A boater noticed Burns' black Ford Focus in Mantua Creek in East Greenwich around 1 p.m., officials
Township Police Chief Barry Jenkins investigators did not know how or where the vehicle entered the creek. It was between NorthStreet and Berkley Road.
