The UK-spec 1 Series will be available with five units, two petrol and three diesel engines to be more precise. All the units are available either with a new eight-speed automatic or the classic six-speed manual transmission. The BMW 116i comes with a 1.6-liter unit producing 136 horsepower and returning a fuel consumption of 49,6mpg UK.

In terms of dimensions, the new 1 Series increased over the first generation by 83mm in length and 14mm in width while the luggage capacity is now around 360 liters, an improvement of over 30 liters. Moreover, folding the rear seats will significantly bring some extra space leading to a total capacity of 1,200 liters. The most expensive version is the BMW 120d with the 184hp engine, the final price rising to £24,720 while the cheapest one is the 116i ES.
