BMW reveals London 2012 Performance Edition for 1 and 3 Series

Late 2009, BMW announced  that they just signed an agreement with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games. This partnership makes the German company the automotive partner of the 2012 Olympic Games, which means that all the vehicles that will be used for transportation will bear BMW’s badge. Today, the Bavarians decided to reveal a special edition able to celebrate the partnership between BMW and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.

The new “Performance Edition” is available for both 1 Series and 3 Series range and comes with noteworthy styling tweaks along some technical improvements. The German company also claims that this special edition which is specially designed for the British market brings significant savings for the potential customers comparing to a standard model with the same features.

The new Performance Edition is available for the three- and five-door versions of the 116i, 116d and 118d while the price starts at £19,530 OTR. For this price you get the M aerodynamic kit, high-gloss exterior trim, a new set of 18-inch M alloy wheels new exhaust tailpipe in dark chrome finish, dark line rear lights and new exterior colors choices: Alpine White, Titanium Silver, Bluewater and Black Sapphire

At the interior you will benefit from the M Sport steering wheel and gearshift lever wrapped in leather, new sport seats with Royal Blue stitching, custom floor mats and the M Sport suspension as the only major technical improvement. The BMW 3 Series Performance Edition comes with a starting price of £23,195 OTR for the 318i version, the Germans promising savings of over £2,000 over the similar 3 Series ES Saloon. In terms of improvements, BMW prepared almost the same modifications as the 1 Series received.

The BMW London 2012 Performance Team will also benefit by being provided with vehicles to support them in their preparation for the Games,” claims BMW.
